Project Overview
This project aims create a knowledge-creating, eco-friendly industrial hub to shepherd the development of the Saemangeum area and actively respond to the economic growth in the Pan-Yellow Sea Region.
- To develop the area into an agglomeration town with national flagship industries, new growth engine projects, and related research institutions
- To introduce testing and R&D functions for Marine engineering, aviation, energy, and convergence technologies as well as advanced urban service functions

Work Progress by Section

As of the end of August 2019, the Industrial Complex (18.5㎢) is divided into 9 reclamation sections with the overall process rate standing at 27.9%*.
*Out of the total project cost of KRW 2.55 trillion, KRW 707.1 billion (including national budget of KRW 47.2 billion) has been spent. -
Out of 9 sections, 4 sections (1, 2, 5, 6) are in progress and 5 sections (3, 4, 7, 8, 9) yet to be launched.
- Section 1 (1.84㎢): Reclamation work completed
- Section 2 (2.55㎢): Reclamation work completed
- Section 5 (1.81㎢): Reclamation work completedSection 6 (1.90㎢): Reclamation in progress (93%)
