Creating a smart waterside city
Project Overview
Creation of a ‘Smart Waterfront City’ that can support a population of 25,000 people over an area of 6.6㎢ in the Saemangeum International Cooperation Site with an estimated budget of 1.3 trillion won by 2024.


Launched in July 2017 when it was included in the 100 Policy Tasks Five-Year Plan (No. 78 Balanced National Development), the ‘Creation of a Smart Waterfront City’ Project is aimed at building a new city that can support around 25,000 people, basically on its own, on a land of 6.6㎢ inside the International Cooperation Site of Saemangeum by 2024 with an estimated budget of KRW 1.3 trillion.

Laying the foundation for a hyper-connected society by using artificial intelligence and big data in the entire city management process, such as various services and monitoring functions starting from the planning stage

Creating an eco-friendly waterfront city where interior and exterior water environments strike a balance through the construction of detached housing clusters
